Frequently asked questions

What is the best interior design trade show to attend in the US?

High Point Market is the one most US designers build their year around. It runs twice, April 10–14 and October 23–27 in 2027, filling High Point, North Carolina with wholesale previews, trend forecasting, and expert-led panels. What really sets it apart is the networking. The event has a “homecoming” feel, so building real relationships with other designers and vendors happens naturally. If your work leans kitchen and bath, KBIS in Las Vegas on February 2–4 is a better use of your travel budget.

What is the best interior design trade show to attend in Canada?

The Interior Design Show in Toronto is Canada’s flagship design event. IDS 2027 runs January 21–24 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Expect a showroom full of new product, an accredited seminar program across the opening trade days, and a crowd worth talking to. Tickets run around $30, with a small discount for buying online ahead of time. Book early, because January shows sell out faster than most people expect.

How can interior designers make the most of attending trade shows, expos, and conferences?

Don’t just plan to attend, plan to connect. Events are packed with inspiration, from product launches to expert panels, but the real value often comes from the people you meet.

Start conversations whenever you can. Connect with other designers, vendors, speakers, and industry experts. Attend networking events, group discussions, and even casual meetups outside the conference schedule. Those connections can lead to future collaborations, referrals, or even new clients. For more detailed advice on connecting with others to grow your business, check out our complete guide to networking and referrals for interior designers.

What are the benefits of attending interior design conventions and home decor trade shows for professionals in the industry?

The benefits of attending these events come down to two key areas: education and connection. First, you get direct access to new trends, products, and ideas shaping the industry. Seeing materials, furniture, and finishes in person often sparks more inspiration than browsing online. You’ll also learn from panels, workshops, and experts covering everything from design strategy to business growth.

Second, these events give you the chance to build meaningful relationships. You can connect with potential clients, vendors, and other designers, all in one place. Over time, those relationships can help you grow both creatively and professionally.

What’s the difference between an interior design trade show, a conference, and an expo?

The words get used interchangeably, but they buy you different things. A trade show or expo is built around product. High Point Market, Las Vegas Market, Atlanta Market, and NY Now put showrooms on the floor, and you leave with sources. A conference is built around programming. At SpArc Interiors or AIA27, the value sits in the sessions and the people in the room. Design weeks and festivals like London Design Festival or Dutch Design Week run city-wide and lean toward inspiration over sourcing. Work out which one you actually need first, because the flight costs the same either way.

When should I start planning for 2027 interior design events?

Now, especially if your travel budget is tight. The 2027 calendar opens early. Lightovation starts January 6 and Atlanta Market follows on January 12, so registration and hotels for those close out before the holidays. IDS Toronto tickets go on sale mid-October for a January show. NeoCon opens registration in February. High Point passes are free in advance but $30 at the door. Hotel blocks near the big markets go first, so book the room before you finalize anything else.
